Amazon Pharmacy Expands Same-Day Delivery to 2,000 New Locations by Year's End

Amazon Pharmacy is expanding its same-day prescription delivery service to nearly 2,000 new locations by the end of the year. The move will bring its total coverage to over 4,500 areas across the US, including parts of Idaho and Massachusetts where local pharmacy closures have left gaps in access. The company is also rolling out new features to support caregivers and discount programs for uninsured customers.

The expansion follows growing demand for convenient prescription services. Amazon Pharmacy already delivers to all 50 states and Washington, DC, but the latest push targets underserved regions. In places like Idaho and Massachusetts, where independent pharmacies have declined in recent years, the service aims to fill a critical need.

For customers without insurance, the RxPass program offers significant savings. Available to Amazon Prime subscribers for $5 a month, it provides discounts of up to 80% on generic medications and 40% on brand-name drugs. This option has become particularly valuable as national data shows a steady drop in local pharmacy availability, with around 1,000 closures reported annually.

Beyond delivery, Amazon Pharmacy has also introduced new ways to manage prescriptions. In 2025, the company launched a caregiver support feature, allowing families to oversee medication subscriptions for relatives. Additionally, prescription pick-up kiosks—already placed in some clinic lobbies—will expand further this year, giving customers more flexibility in how they collect their orders.

The latest expansion will make same-day prescription delivery available in thousands more locations. With added tools for caregivers and discounted medication programs, Amazon Pharmacy is positioning itself as a key player in an evolving healthcare landscape. The changes come as traditional pharmacies face increasing pressure from online competitors.
