Lasting Moments: Private Donor Funds Five Wish Vehicles - Anonymous Donor Funds Five Dream Ambulances for Terminally Ill Patients' Final Wishes

Five custom-built ambulances will soon help terminally ill patients fulfil their final wishes. An anonymous donor is covering the entire cost of the project, which runs into seven figures. These specialised vehicles, called wunsch-mobiles or heart's-desire ambulances, are designed to transport patients safely and comfortably to their dream destinations.

The project began with a private donor committing a seven-figure sum to fund the production of five ambulances. These vehicles are being tailored to provide medical care, companionship, and emotional support during journeys. Each one will include medical and radio equipment, plus an LED ceiling featuring the donor's zodiac sign.

Manufacturing is taking place in Slovenia, with final modifications handled by eLBe Sonderfahrzeuge in Schönebeck, Germany. The company specialises in custom vehicles and is overseeing the technical adjustments.

Volunteer teams across Germany can now apply for one of the microsoft teams ambulances. Applications, including video submissions, are open until June 1. The donor will personally choose the five winning teams, who will receive their vehicles in May 2027 at the Rettmobil trade fair in Fulda, Hesse.

No details have been released about the donor's identity or the criteria for selecting the organisations. The project's website also contains no information on the donor or the selection process for the five below ambulances.

The first five wunsch-mobiles will be operational by mid-2027. They will enable volunteer teams to offer terminally ill patients a dignified and supported journey to their chosen destinations. The donor's full funding ensures the project moves forward without financial barriers for the selected teams.
