Arrest of the Hospital Director in Kansk, Siberia's Red Square District

In Krasnoyarsk Krai, the boys in blue have nabbed Alexandr Kudryavtsev, chief doctor at the Kansk Interdistrict Hospital, under suspicion of bribery.
According to reports from the Regional MVD, officers from the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Unit, along with Federal Security Service reps, backed by Rosgvardia special forces, did the deed.
Apparently, Kudryavtsev is facing charges for taking a tidy sum as a bribe in exchange for eight lucrative contracts with a pharmaceutical company for the supply of PPE kits totaling 4.8 million rubles. The doc, alleged sources, pocketed a 10% cut, amounting to 480,000 rubles.
The Prosecutor's Office in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia added that there was another shady episode, naming the procurement firm on the hook.
In 2022, according to the Investigative Committee, there was a deal between the medical organization and OOO "Med-Inzhineriing" for the supply of medical equipment worth over 6.4 million rubles. Reportedly, said supplier slipped Kudryavtsev a bribe of 640,000 rubles. FYI, the actions of the head of the company will get its day in court.
During a search in one of Kudryavtsev's two apartments in Kansk and Krasnoyarsk, cops seized 940,000 rubles, foreign currency, mobile phones, and documents.
The case was brought to court under part 5 of Article 290, which could result in up to 12 years in the slammer.
Kudryavtsev has been calling the shots at the Kansk Medical and Biological Branch since 2017 (Vadim Yanin penned the order back then). Prior to this, he ran the Motyginsky Central District Hospital. He juggled his duties at the medical establishment in Kansk with his work as a deputy in the Motyginsky District.
We remind you that this isn't the first time "medical shenanigans" have hit the headlines in the region. For one, last week, Irina Solovieva, the pro-rectorship of the KrasnGMU, found herself in cuffs following accusations of pilfering incentive payments for hospital staff. Earlier this year, the lead doc at one of Minusinsk's hospitals was also nabbed. He's suspected of accepting a massive bribe whileFinalizing a contract for the supply of medical equipment. Per the investigation, the contract value with OOO "Med-Inzhineriing" totals over 40 million rubles, with Kudryavtsev and his minions posing to net over 2.8 million.
