Athlete struggles for help following collision during triathlon event
Is the Court Addressing the Timely and Appropriate Treatment of a Collapsed Triathlete by Rescue Paramedics? That's the burning question set to be answered by the Higher Regional Court in Dresden this Wednesday (29.11.). The plaintiff took part in a casual triathlon in Moritzburg (Meissen district) back in 2017. Following his victory, he suffered a collapse and alleges that the emergency services took too long to attend to him and provided improper treatment. He also argues that the doctor should've been called sooner.
The unfortunate event reportedly left the man in critical condition, forcing him to remain incapacitated for over two months.
The defendants - the triathlon organizer and paramedics - flatly deny the athlete's allegations. In their version of events, the paramedics acted swiftly and appropriately based on the challenging circumstances of the athlete's reluctance to accept assistance initially. It's worth noting that the initial lawsuit brought by the plaintiff was rejected by the Regional Court. (dpa)
