Bad Kissingen Hosts Free Dementia Awareness Event Next Month

An informational afternoon titled 'Understanding and Supporting Dementia' will take place in Bad Kissingen next month. Organised by GutePflege Landkreis Bad Kissingen, the free event aims to share knowledge and ease concerns about the condition. Visitors will learn how to engage with those affected by dementia in a respectful and dignified way. The event runs on Wednesday, April 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Catholic Community Center in Bad Kissingen. No registration is needed, and entry is free for all attendees.

A key feature will be the **Dementia Experience Course**, where participants can step into the world of someone living with dementia. Interactive stations will simulate how familiar routes can become confusing and how simple tasks may feel overwhelming. The goal is to build patience, empathy, and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced. Rita Hillenbrand, the event's lead organiser, highlights that dementia affects not just individuals but also their families and wider social circles. The afternoon will also provide guidance on available support services and care structures, helping attendees navigate the practical aspects of dementia care.

The session offers both firsthand experience and expert advice. By fostering empathy and awareness, it seeks to improve interactions with those living with dementia. Attendees will leave with clearer insights into support options and care strategies.
