Bangladesh Medical University trains phlebotomists to fight antimicrobial resistance

Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) hosted a training workshop on Wednesday as part of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2025. The main event, titled 'Phlebotomists on Sample Collection', aimed to improve skills in medical sample handling. Senior university officials attended the session, highlighting its importance in healthcare training.

The workshop was organised jointly by BMU’s Faculty of Medical Technology and the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Vice-chancellor Professor Md Shahinul Alam led the event, with support from key university figures.

The workshop provided hands-on training for phlebotomists under BMU’s guidance. Officials emphasised the role of proper sample handling in combating antimicrobial resistance. The event concluded as one of several initiatives marking the university’s participation in global health awareness efforts.
