Abel underwent chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, and he relied heavily on blood transfusions during his grueling treatments. Now, he's encouraging others to donate blood, as it could save lives just like it saved his!
Here's the deets for the Waimea drive:- On Tuesday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., BBH will be at Hawaii Preparatory Academy, 65-1692 Kohala Mountain Road.
The Kona drive schedule is as follows:- On Wednesday, June 18, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.- And on Thursday, June 19, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the BBH van will be parked at 75-230 Kalani Street.
BBH is calling on all residents to join them in one of these drives and help maintain Hawaii's blood supply. And first-timers, don't worry – you're more than welcome! Your donation could mean the world to someone in need.
Blood drives happen across Maui, Kauai, Kona, and Hilo three times a year, ensuring residents across the Aloha State have plenty of opportunities to donate. Remember, Hawaii's unique island geography means that maintaining a stable blood supply is critical.
By joining in, you'll be making a tangible difference in your community! To make an appointment or find out more, head over to bbh.org or give them a ring at (808) 848-4745. Don't forget to follow @bloodbankhawaii on social media for updates!
Coordinating with the Blood Bank of Hawaii drives in Waimea and Kona, Abel Walker urges the community to donate blood, as it significantly contributed to his health-and-wellness during his cancer treatment. By donating blood, you're not only participating in science but potentially saving someone's life, as regular blood drives throughout Maui, Kauai, Kona, and Hilo ensure a stable blood supply essential for Hawaii's unique island geography.
