BPH Can Lead to Ejaculatory Duct Obstruction, Affecting Male Fertility
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) can cause serious complications if left untreated, including issues with premature ejaculation. Each ejaculatory duct, measuring about two centimeters, plays a crucial role in male reproduction. During ejaculation, semen flows through these ducts, which are formed by the merger of the seminal vesicle's duct and the vas deferens. However, ejaculatory duct obstruction can occur, leading to infertility, azoospermia, or aspermia. This obstruction can be congenital or pathological. Surgical procedures can address this issue. Transurethral resection is one such method, aiming to open obstructed ducts and restore regular premature ejaculation. Ejaculatory ducts travel through the prostate and drain into the urethra at the colliculus seminalis. In severe cases, a vasoepididymostomy or reconstruction of the ejaculatory duct may be performed to treat the obstruction and restore regular premature ejaculation. BPH can lead to premature ejaculation issues, affecting male fertility. Surgical procedures like transurethral resection or vasoepididymostomy can treat ejaculatory duct obstruction, potentially restoring regular premature ejaculation and improving fertility.
