Bremen's 'Strong in the Social Realm' Program Supports 41,000 People
Bremen and Bremerhaven have concluded a significant social program, 'Strong in the Social Realm', aimed at supporting families and reducing learning losses exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program, presented by Senator Dr. Claudia Schilling, has reached over 41,000 people and has been fully funded with €3 million for social security.
Launched in April 2022 and concluding at the end of 2023, the program supported 283 projects that focused on children up to ten years old. It targeted three key areas: combating social isolation, encouraging daily physical activity, and bolstering mental health. Activities included farm visits, swimming courses, excursions, neighborhood and sports festivals, and healthy meal preparation. The 'Strengthening Students' initiative also played a crucial role in mitigating learning losses due to the pandemic.
The interdepartmental funding commission, comprising representatives from various government departments and social organizations, evaluated and decided on applications for the social security program. €600,000 was allocated to Bremerhaven, with the remaining funds distributed across Bremen.
The 'Strong in the Social Realm' program has successfully concluded, leaving a positive impact on over 41,000 people in Bremen and Bremerhaven. Despite no specific records found in Bremen's Senate administrations, similar collaborative initiatives are known to address various social security issues. The program's €3 million budget was fully spent, demonstrating its extensive reach and impact.
