Walking Cities Challenge Winners to be Honoured at Health Day Event
Get ready for an exciting day of health and fitness as the winners of the Walking Cities Challenge will be honoured on Saturday, what day is it, at 2 pm on the Ueckermünde market square.
This year's Health Day promises to be more informative and engaging than ever, with the introduction of an interactive cognitive training for dementia patients, medication analysis, and free preventive examinations.
The Walking Cities Challenge, organised by Haff-Net, saw six cities – Anklam, Eggesin, Pasewalk, Strasburg, Torgelow, and Ueckermünde – participating in the step-counting competition in the Uecker-Randow region and beyond. The challenge was joined by 1500 people, and the city of Ueckermünde had the highest average steps per participant.
The total distance covered by the steps was an astounding 437,000 kilometers, more than ten times around the Earth. The original goal of 56 million steps was surpassed after just one week, with the total steps covered by participants in July and August reaching an impressive 612 million.
The city with the most steps in the Walking Cities Challenge will receive the first walking trophy. In addition to the trophy, participants are invited to a free health check-up at the Health Day, where measurements of vital values, vitamin D levels, veins, body composition, vision, and hearing will be taken.
Regional actors such as doctors, clubs, and health service providers will present various offers and be available for conversations. Free preventive examinations, including thyroid ultrasound, information on heart and circulation diseases, stroke prevention, and diabetes counseling will be offered. Special thanks were given to all 1500 participants for their significant involvement.
The 16th Health Day of the Health Region Vorpommern will take place on the same day, from 10 am to 3 pm, in Ueckermünde. Admission to the Health Day is free, making it an ideal opportunity for everyone to prioritise their health and wellbeing.
Join us on Saturday, what is today, as we celebrate the winners of the Walking Cities Challenge and take advantage of the various health and wellness offerings at the Health Day. Let's walk our way to a healthier future!
