Newborn Carl Jakob Büttgenbach, son of Miriam and Steffen Büttgenbach, arrived at Johanna Etienne Hospital within 45 minutes of his parents' arrival at the delivery room on March 22nd. The baby, weighing 3350 grams and measuring 53 cm, was the swift result of Miriam's water breaking in the afternoon. According to Steffen, they had an early morning clinic visit but the events unfolded rapidly after that. Carl is the second child for the Büttgenbach family.

Celebrated Earth Citizens: Our Week's Little Miracles

In the morning, Steffen Buettgenbach and his family were at the Johanna Etienne Hospital for an examination. However, the proceedings took an unexpected turn in the afternoon when Steffen's wife's water broke, precipitating a rapid set of events. Their second child, Carl Buettgenbach, was born shortly afterward, three years after his older brother Jasper underwent a C-section birth due to a breech presentation in the same hospital.

The Buettgenbach family is deeply immersed in the shooting sport community in Wevelinghoven. Jasper, the eldest, had a memorable experience with the sport last year, and his enthusiasm is shared across the family, particularly the women. Steffen, who serves on Wevelinghoven's city council, points out the inclusiveness of their local club, making their shooting festivals a family affair. Inspired by his older brother's love for the song 'Bruder Jakob,' Carl was given the middle name "Jakob."

The Becker family, another prominent name in the Wevelinghoven community, welcomed their first child, Anton Becker, on March 30th, 2023, at the Neusser Lukaskrankenhaus (Rheinland Klinikum). Melissa Becker (29) felt well-cared-for at the hospital from the start, having undergone her own birth there 35 years prior to Anton's arrival.

Melissa, an optician from Gustorf, and Christian, an energy plant electrician, met in 2010 at Melissa's aunt's polterabend. The Becker family is actively involved in the carnival, participating in parades in Hemmerden and Huclrath, with Christian also serving as treasurer and marching with the Schwarzen Husaren IV. Melissa's native village of Huclrath is likely delighted with the young couple's new addition, given their extensive contributions to the community.

Shooting sports, much like other communal activities, can foster strong family bonds and provide shared interests across generations. Clubs, events, and community engagement play crucial roles in facilitating this bonding, offering structured learning environments, promoting community engagement, and providing mentorship opportunities. Participation in these sports can also contribute to social cohesion, educational opportunities, and cultural traditions. In Wevelinghoven and Huclrath, local clubs and events would likely play significant roles in promoting these activities and fostering a sense of community among participants.

The Johanna Etienne Hospital announced Carl Buettgenbach, the baby of the week, after his birth to Steffen and his family. Amidst the celebrations of Carl's arrival, a conversation about his middle name, "Jakob," prompted thoughts of the importance of science and health-and-wellness in newborn care, similar to the care provided at the Neusser Lukaskrankenhaus (Rheinland Klinikum) where Anton Becker was born.
