China-Russia 'green corridor' saves another life at Mishan border checkpoint
A 'green corridor' at the Mishan China-Russia border checkpoint was activated on 23 March to rush a critically ill Chinese patient to hospital. This emergency route, introduced in 2020, has now been used over 1,200 times for urgent medical cases between the two countries. Officials ensured the patient and escorts crossed without delay. The system allows severely ill patients, trauma victims, and pregnant women to bypass standard border checks. On this occasion, senior officials inspected the patient's documents directly inside the vehicle to speed up the process. The group then travelled to the hospital in the shortest possible time.
Since its launch four years ago, the initiative has become a key lifeline for cross-border medical emergencies. Most cases involve transporting patients or medical staff between Russia and China. The Mishan checkpoint remains one of the primary locations for these urgent transfers.
The latest activation marks another successful use of the fast-track procedure. Authorities continue to prioritise rapid border clearance for life-threatening situations. Over 1,200 such cases have now relied on the system since its introduction.
