Claire Kane’s 18-stone weight loss triumph earns her Woman of the Year 2025
Claire Kane, a 40-year-old mother from Airdrie, Scotland, has been named Slimming World’s Woman of the Year 2025. Her remarkable journey saw her lose over 18 stone—dropping from nearly 30 stone to 10st 11.5lbs—without relying on weight-loss drugs or surgery. The transformation began in 2016, driven by her determination to qualify for IVF treatment after years of struggling with infertility.
Kane’s battle with weight was linked to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and endometriosis, conditions that made conception difficult. In 2016, she started exercising, first using gym equipment at work before progressing to running 10k races. Despite early progress, setbacks like her father’s death and Covid lockdowns caused weight regain.
Kane’s achievement has earned her national recognition as Slimming World’s Woman of the Year. Her journey shows how diet and exercise, without medical intervention, can overcome long-term health challenges. Today, she actively shares her experience to motivate others facing similar struggles.
