Commission's Remit Expands to Draft Guidelines for Worker Radiation Safety Protection
On Tuesday, 3rd June 2023, the cross-border traffic safety action "sicher.mobil.leben" took place in Paderborn. This annual event, organised by the police forces of various federal states, aims to improve road safety, particularly around schools, kindergartens, and on routes leading to them.
This year's motto was "Children in sight", emphasising the importance of road users being aware of children in road traffic. The Paderborn police carried out reinforced traffic controls throughout the district, focusing on these key areas.
During the morning hours at the start of school and kindergarten, officers controlled 24 locations. The results showed that 112 violations were detected, with 88 of these being speeding offences. Three violations by or against cyclists were recorded, and nine other offences were logged. Nine times, vehicle drivers or passengers were not wearing seat belts, and three times, cyclists or car drivers used their mobile phones while driving.
One notable incident involved a care service vehicle and an Opel driver, both of whom were found to be exceeding the permitted speed limit of 30 km/h at a Hövelhofer school. As a result, both drivers face a one-month driving ban.
The traffic safety consultation of the Paderborn police was also involved in the traffic safety action and carried out six events. The Paderborn Police Headquarters can be contacted for press inquiries at the number 05251 306-1313 or via email at [email protected]. For out-of-office hours, the Paderborn Police Control Center can be reached at 05251 306-1222.
While specific information about the 2023 "sicher.mobil.leben" campaign in Paderborn is limited, it is known that Straßen.NRW, the road authority in North Rhine-Westphalia, joined the NRW initiative #sicherimStraßenverkehr aimed at reducing traffic accidents and raising awareness about road safety risks. This suggests that regional engagement in traffic safety measures is ongoing, although no direct data for Paderborn’s 2023 campaign are mentioned.
Typical focuses for such safety actions in German cities include increasing awareness and education on road user safety, promoting active mobility and safe infrastructure, reducing traffic accidents through targeted campaigns, and collaborating with local authorities and public institutions. For precise findings and detailed focus areas of the 2023 "sicher.mobil.leben" campaign in Paderborn, it would be best to consult official Paderborn municipal traffic safety reports or contact the local traffic safety office directly.
