Andrew Thurston, a native of England, joined Boston University (BU) in 2007, bringing with him a wealth of experience in editing and writing, honed from his background in English literature.

Prior to his tenure at BU, Thurston edited consumer and business magazines, showcasing his versatility in various editorial roles. His work has been recognised for its quality and innovation in various industry forums, earning him awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, the In-House Agency Forum, Folio:, and the British Association of Communicators in Business.

Upon joining BU, Thurston took on the role of director of alumni publications. Now, he serves as the editor of the University's research news site, The Brink. His work on The Brink continues to be celebrated for its clarity, innovation, and engaging style.

Thurston's passion for literature is evident in his work, but he also has a unique appreciation for the serial comma and the Red Sox, a departure from his loyalty to West Ham United, a football club from his hometown in England.

Despite his love for West Ham, Thurston has grown to appreciate the Red Sox, much like his affinity for the serial comma, which he now uses consistently in his work. This blend of tradition and adaptation is a testament to Thurston's adaptability and commitment to excellence.

Thurston earned his bachelor's degree in English and related literature from the University of York. His education, combined with his extensive experience, makes him a valuable asset to BU's communication team.

In his role at BU, Thurston continues to apply his skills and passion for storytelling, ensuring that The Brink remains a vibrant and engaging platform for showcasing the University's groundbreaking research and achievements.
