Daily Vaccination Schedule of Doctors under Federal Government's Plan Calls for Administering Vaccines 96 Times Each Day.
The federal government, states, and municipalities are gearing up for a significant logistical challenge as they prepare to set up vaccination centers across the country. The nationwide vaccination plan, outlined in the 'Recommendations for the Organization and Conduct of Vaccinations against SARS-CoV-2,' is divided into three phases.
In the first two phases, vaccination centers will be responsible for administering the vaccine due to its limited availability and high storage requirements, such as cooling to minus 60 degrees. Several vaccines from Biontech (Germany) and Moderna (USA) are expected to be available in the EU in the medium term.
Large halls, churches, tents, and containers are being considered as locations for these vaccination centers. The logistical challenge lies in the need to establish a network of these centers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary facilities and personnel.
The vaccination process for each patient should ideally not take longer than 15 minutes. A doctor could potentially vaccinate up to 96 people in a single day, speeding up the process and helping to vaccinate the population as quickly as possible. Exclusive patient education should be carried out by medical staff to ensure each individual understands the process and any potential side effects.
Various institutions, such as the Public Health Service, general practitioners and their organizations, clinics, the military, aid organizations like the Red Cross and THW, will assist with personnel and organization for the vaccination centers. The World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA), linked with the WHO, and various German specialist societies including GMDS, DGSMP, DGEpi, DGMS, and DGPH are contributing to the broader public health field, providing specific help for vaccination personalization and organization.
In the third phase, single doses that do not require such low temperatures for storage will be available for medical practices. This will make the vaccination process more manageable for smaller healthcare facilities.
As the EU prepares to roll out the vaccines, the focus remains on ensuring a swift and effective vaccination campaign, with the health and safety of the population at the forefront.
