Experts from the Ust-Zaostrovsky Forestry District of the Omsk Forestry Administration constructed mineral barriers encircling the historical landmark. These barriers aim to minimize the risk of a fire's spread, as per Olga Levushkina, the district's head.
These protective zones stretch 4 meters wide and are established using a heavy disk plow, which strips away vegetation to expose mineral soil. Levushkina explains that this technology ensures clear boundaries and high-efficiency fire barriers.
Work around the geoglyph serves as an extension of autumn preparations for the 2025 fire season. Mineral barriers were already set in the neighbouring forests during autumn. Moreover, forestry officials remain vigilant about the health of the newly planted saplings, which spell out "VICTORY - 80" in a rolling display. In areas where spring saw standing water, additional plantings have already occurred.
As a reminder, the geoglyph ranks among the largest environmental projects in the region. Thousands of participants, ranging from the governor to schoolchildren, collaborated on the 3.8-hectare planting. With the towering 70-meter-tall and 545-meter-long pine symbol now serving as a reminder of its predecessors' valor, this artistic creation demands particular care.
