Detainees were confined in a cell due to the mother's actions, involving live-streaming activities.
In a startling turn of events, a couple in Verkhnyadzvinsk, Belarus, have had their parental rights revoked following a disturbing incident on the social media platform TikTok.
The case, which has been referred to as a shocking incident in Minsk, came to light in March 2024 after complaints from a kindergarten about the regular absences of younger children without valid reasons. An investigation revealed that the child's situation in the family was socially dangerous.
At the centre of the incident is a 35-year-old resident of Verkhnyadzvinsk, known as a "streamer" on TikTok. During a live stream, she was found to have cursed at and threatened her seven-year-old son. The prosecutor of the Verkhnyadzvinsky district has issued a directive to local guardianship and tutelage authorities in response to this incident.
The investigation further uncovered that the couple had not worked for more than three months and were found to be unable to buy basic food. The family, consisting of the couple and four children, had received two apartments from the state on Soltys Street but lived in only one. The family's home was reportedly hindering visits by specialists at their residence.
The woman's actions during the live stream are considered harmful to her child, and it was also reported that she was intoxicated during the incident. The court has deprived the couple of their parental rights, and the local guardianship and tutelage authorities have been instructed to respond to the incident.
