Diane Ladd, the beloved actress known for her warmth and talent, has died at the age of 89. She passed away peacefully at her home in Ojai, California, on November 3, 2025, with her daughter Laura Dern at her side. Family and colleagues have since shared heartfelt tributes to her memory.

Ladd had struggled with interstitial lung disease for years. The condition, along with esophageal dysmotility, led to acute hypoxic respiratory failure, which ultimately caused her death. Her cremation took place on November 10.

Born into a family with no ties to Hollywood, Ladd was the daughter of Preston Paul Ladner, a veterinarian who sold homemade products in the American South. Despite her humble beginnings, she carved out a distinguished career in film and television.

After her passing, Laura Dern spoke fondly of her mother, calling her 'my great hero and the deepest gift of a mother.' Bruce Dern, Ladd’s ex-husband, also paid tribute, remembering her as 'funny, smart, and lovable.'

Ladd’s death leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances and a reputation for kindness. Her battle with chronic illness ended at home, surrounded by loved ones. Family, friends, and fans continue to honour her life and contributions to cinema.
