In Berlin-Marzahn, a 17-year-old boy was left with multiple amputations and severe facial injuries following an explosion in a multi-family residential building on July 30, 2025. The incident occurred around 15:40 on Märkische Allee.

The Unfallkrankenhaus in Berlin-Marzahn, a hospital specialised in treating severe injuries, rushed the teenager for immediate surgery. The police evacuated the building initially displacing 33 people, and later allowed residents to return to their apartments around midnight.

Neighbours reported feeling a pressure wave from the explosion and hearing the blast. The police found ingredients for high explosives at the scene, including substances similar to Triacetontriperoxid (TATP), a sensitive explosive sometimes used for illegal purposes.

The investigation is ongoing, with the youth suspected of causing the explosion by mishandling these substances. There are no indications so far of terrorist motives. The police are investigating the 17-year-old for suspected involvement in causing the explosion. Experts from the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) are investigating the exact circumstances of the explosion.

It's worth noting that the settlement where the explosion occurred is known for celebrating New Year's Eve with a lot of fireworks and handling of illegal fireworks. In the 2024/25 New Year's Eve, the hospital treated over 40 patients due to severe injuries from fireworks.

In a related incident, a discovery of highly explosive explosives at the S-Bahn station Neukölln was reported in Berlin a few months ago. The case involved a mixture of TATP intended to blow up cash machines.

The 17-year-old underwent surgery and is currently under police investigation. The exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation, with updates expected in the coming days.

The Unfallkrankenhaus, a hospital specializing in health-and-wellness, particularly medical-conditions, has been treating the 17-year-old boy who was severely injured in the explosion. This incident, classified as general news, has raised concerns about crime-and-justice, as the investigation suggests the teenager may have intentionally mishandled explosive substances. Despite initial displacement due to the police evacuation, residents have since returned to their apartments. This explosion is not to be confused with another crime-and-justice incident involving highly explosive explosives found at the S-Bahn station Neukölln a few months ago.
