Doctors Perform Successful Knee Replacement on Over 120kg Patient

In a remarkable medical feat, doctors at Nizhny Novgorod’s City Clinical Hospital No. 13 have successfully performed a knee replacement surgery on a woman weighing over 120 kg. Despite her significant weight, which often poses challenges in such procedures, the patient has made a promising recovery.

The woman, who had a severely damaged talus bone, underwent the surgery with the aid of a specialized medical alloy implant made from cobalt, chromium, and molybdenum. This implant is designed to withstand the additional stress her weight places on her knee joint. The operation was a success, and the patient is now mobile with the help of a walker.

Post-surgery, doctors have advised the patient to lose 10-15 kg to extend the lifespan of the implant. This weight loss will help reduce the strain on the new joint, ensuring its longevity and the patient's continued mobility.

The successful surgery at Nizhny Novgorod’s City Clinical Hospital No. 13 has given the patient a new lease on life, allowing her to regain mobility. However, the patient's long-term knee health depends on her ability to manage her weight, as advised by her medical team.
