Downey Medical Center Recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a Top-tier Regional Hospital
Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center in California has been honoured by U.S. News & World Report's 2025-2026 Best Hospitals edition, achieving high performance in ten adult medical specialties, procedures, and conditions.
The hospital demonstrated excellent patient outcomes and specialized expertise in areas such as spinal fusion, congestive heart failure, heart attack, hip fracture, leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, lung cancer surgery, pneumonia, stroke, arrhythmia, and orthopedics (general category).
This recognition underscores the hospital's commitment to providing high-quality care and reinforces its position as a leading healthcare provider in Southern California.
Nine Kaiser Permanente hospitals in the region, including Downey, Anaheim, Irvine, Fontana, Ontario, Los Angeles, San Diego Zion, San Diego, and Woodland Hills medical centers, were also ranked among the state's best.
The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings and Procedures and Conditions ratings are based on data from over 800 million records of patient care. U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 4,400 hospitals across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures and conditions.
U.S. News & World Report's ratings and rankings are designed to assist patients in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures. Only one third of the hospitals surveyed earned an award.
In addition to the high performing recognition, Downey Medical Center was also awarded as a 2025 High Performing medical center for Maternity Care. This award was given to Downey Medical Center and 12 other Kaiser Permanente Southern California hospitals.
The hospital was evaluated based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and level of nursing care.

Out of 39 eligible Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, 37 were named among the best in the nation based on U.S. News & World Report's 2024-2025 Best Hospitals analysis. The U.S. News ratings and rankings for Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center were based on data from over 800 million records of patient care.
