Addiction and drug counselling centres in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania faced a sharp rise in demand last year. Over 8,850 individuals sought help, while 923 family members also reached out for support. The figures highlight growing concerns around substance use in the region.
Alcohol remained the leading cause for addiction counselling, with 5,505 people affected in 2020. The trend has continued to climb. Cannabis followed closely, ranking second, with 938 individuals seeking assistance in 2024.
