Two heavily intoxicated men nearly drowned in Ulm’s Blau River after falling in during a late-night bathroom break. Emergency services pulled them from the water just in time, as both suffered severe hypothermia and one repeatedly lost consciousness.
The incident began when a group of men gathered in the Tast- und Riechgarten, drinking large amounts of alcohol. Late at night, two of them wandered off to relieve themselves near the riverbank. Both slipped and fell into the Blau River.
The two men remain in hospital receiving treatment for severe hypothermia. Without the quick response from emergency services, the outcome could have been far worse. Authorities have not yet released further details on their condition.
