Elena Malysheva, a prominent Russian doctor and TV presenter, has expressed concerns about the rising trend of self-prescribing magnesium supplements. During a recent episode of her show Live Healthy!, she labeled the practice 'absurd' and cautioned about potential health risks for those who consume these supplements without proper medical advice.

Malysheva pointed out that most people already obtain sufficient magnesium through their regular diet. Foods like potatoes, buckwheat, rice, cottage cheese, hard cheese, leafy greens, and bread naturally provide the necessary daily intake. She emphasized that genuine magnesium deficiency is rare and usually associated with severe digestive problems that disrupt electrolyte balance.

Malysheva's warnings are part of her ongoing campaign to promote evidence-based health practices. She has consistently stressed the importance of consulting health insurance providers and medical professionals before making changes to one’s diet or supplement routine. This advice aligns with her long-standing stance against unsupervised self-treatment.
