€1.1M 'Capacitar' Award Opens for Disability and Inclusion Projects

The 2026 BPI la Caixa Foundation 'Capacitar' Award is now accepting applications. Organisations have from May 19 to June 18 to submit their proposals. This year’s edition will distribute €1.1 million in funding to support training and workplace integration, with a special focus on women. The award targets non-profit private groups running projects for people with disabilities, mental health conditions, or chronic illnesses. It also extends support to their families. Successful initiatives will focus on daily life skills, inclusive education, social participation, and access to employment.

Each selected project could receive up to €150,000. The 2025 edition saw 25 projects share over €1.1 million, helping around 1,750 individuals. Since its launch in 2010, the programme has funded 360 projects, improving the lives of more than 53,500 people. Priority will be given to schemes that boost independence and job opportunities. The foundation aims to strengthen inclusion through practical, long-term solutions.

The application window closes on June 18. Winning projects will be announced later in the year. The €1.1 million fund will back initiatives that create measurable improvements in training and employment for vulnerable groups.
