Europe's Newest Wellness Retreats Redefine Luxury and Long-Term Health
New wellness retreats have launched across Europe, blending luxury with health-focused experiences. From Burgundy's grape-based spa treatments to Tuscan ayurvedic programmes, the offerings cater to those seeking relaxation and long-term wellbeing. Established venues like Goodwood have also expanded their retreats, linking food, sustainability, and personal health. In February 2023, Les Sources de Vougeot opened in Burgundy as the latest addition to the Les Sources de Caudalie brand. The spa specialises in vinotherapie, using grape extracts for scrubs, wraps, soaks, and massages. This approach builds on the original Les Sources de Caudalie, which pioneered wine-inspired wellness in Bordeaux back in 1999.
Meanwhile, Goodwood estate in West Sussex has broadened its wellness programmes. Known for motorsport and vintage events, it now hosts year-round retreats exploring gut health and food systems. The five-night Gut Health and Active Longevity programmes include organic farm meals, spa access, and tailored therapies. For extra privacy, guests can stay in self-catering Dairy Cottages. The estate also runs an annual health summit, launched in 2023, focusing on sustainable agriculture and longevity. Another retreat, The Mood Food Connection, examines how diet affects mental state, with sessions in March, October, and November. Elsewhere, Constantin Bjerke introduced Datu, a week-long ayurvedic retreat, in 2023. Set in a restored Tuscan borgo, the programme offers traditional wellness practices in a rural setting.
These retreats reflect a growing demand for immersive health experiences. Les Sources de Vougeot continues the tradition of vinotherapie, while Goodwood ties wellness to sustainable living. Datu's launch in Tuscany adds another option for those seeking ayurvedic care in Europe. Each programme provides distinct approaches to relaxation and long-term health.
