More Private Clinics Flooding Saxony-Anhalt: A Left Parliamentarian's Critique
Expansion of Medical Facilities in Saxony-Anhalt Underway - Expansion of Health Facilities in Saxony-Anhalt Continues
It's no secret that the number of private Medical Care Centers (MVZ) in Saxony-Anhalt has been on the rise, jumping from 74 to 111 in just a few years. State parliamentarian Nicole Anger (Left) has expressed her concerns, claiming that the influx of profit-driven providers is prioritizing economic gain over healthcare needs.
A significant chunk of these MVZs can be found in Halle (23), Magdeburg (19), the Harz district (12), and the Burgenlandkreis (11). However, one area that's been struggling is the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, where both MVZs and a sustainable hospital infrastructure are lacking, according to Anger. She argues that the state needs to step in and address these gaps.
The Left demands a shift towards community-oriented MVZs, citing a dire situation in the Altmark. Yet, as it stands, there's not a single MVZ in communal ownership in Saxony-Anhalt. In response to Anger's parliamentary inquiry, the state government stated that it's unaware of any municipality actively pursuing such an intention. Sadly, the state budget does not currently allocate funds for the promotion and support of communal MVZs.
In contrast to a typical doctor's practice, MVZs operate with an organizational separation between ownership and medical treatment. Doctors are typically employed as staff. The Federal Ministry of Health labels MVZs as interdisciplinary or doctor-group-specific facilities.
It's worth noting that the absence of community-owned MVZs in Saxony-Anhalt stems from the existing organizational and legal frameworks within healthcare, which prioritize other forms of healthcare institutions. According to the parasitical response to Anger's inquiry, the state government hasn't actively supported or incentivized the development of community-owned MVZs. This could suggest a broader issue with the healthcare planning and funding models in the region.
- The Left in Saxony-Anhalt has advocated for a transition towards community-owned Medical Care Centers (MVZs), citing the issue in the Altmark region where both MVZs and a sustainable hospital infrastructure are scarce.
- Vocational training for health and wellness professionals could be a crucial aspect of community-oriented MVZs, as they aim to prioritize healthcare needs over economic gain.
- Policy-and-legislation changes might be necessary to support the development and promotion of community-owned MVZs in Saxony-Anhalt, as the current organizational and legal frameworks prioritize other forms of healthcare institutions.
