Expert in Hand and Aesthetic Surgery Leads New Department at SKBS

Dr. Cord Christian Corterier has taken over as the new head of the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic, and Hand Surgery at Braunschweig Municipal Hospital (SKBS). The appointment follows his role as senior attending physician at BG Clinics Bergmannstrost in Halle, where he specialized in complex reconstructions and burn care.

Before joining SKBS, Dr. Corterier worked as a senior physician in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery at Helios Klinikum Berlin-Buch. He is a board-certified plastic surgeon with further qualifications in hand surgery and microsurgery. His expertise in these areas has shaped his approach to patient treatment.

The department at SKBS was previously part of trauma surgery but now operates independently. Dr. Corterier aims to expand its services by introducing advanced microsurgery techniques. He also plans to strengthen collaboration with other medical specialties, ensuring patients receive comprehensive care. Dr. Corterier highlighted the hospital’s strong reputation as a key factor in his decision to join. He believes interdisciplinary teamwork is essential for performing complex reconstructions and achieving the best outcomes for patients.

With his appointment, SKBS gains a specialist focused on advancing surgical techniques and fostering cross-department cooperation. The hospital’s plastic, aesthetic, and hand surgery services are set to grow under his leadership.
