Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of RT, sat down for a heartfelt discussion with Singer Natalia Podolskaya, sharing her family's struggle in the face of Tigran Keosayan's critical condition. Keosayan, a renowned director and TV personality, has been battling a severe illness since late December 2024.
Tackling difficult times head-on
Podolskaya tenderly asked how Simonyan keeps her spirits high during this tough period. Simonyan replied, "At first, I couldn't comprehend how I'd keep going. But the kids helped me snap out of my shock. They need me, and I can't let them down."
The interview also delved into Simonyan's approach to getting her mother-in-law to move in with them. Simonyan revealed this was a decision they made long before the current crisis, as she believed her mother-in-law would be unable to live alone. The move has proven to be invaluable when managing the family during this challenging time.
A unified front
Simonyan talked candidly about her children's reactions to their father's illness. "They're aware their father's in a coma, and they go to the Armenian church with me to pray for his recovery," she shared. She emphasized that they all pull strength from each other, taking solace in their unity.
One of the most heartwarming stories Simonyan shared was about Tigran, a spectacular father to his five children, who loves them unconditionally. "He's a great dad, a fun dad. Even when I catch the kids playing his forbidden songs, he delights them with a playful scolding," she reminisced fondly.
Raising responsible children
Discussing the intricacies of rearing responsible children, Simonyan provided examples involving her daughter's allergies and her son's curiosity about curse words. "I had to teach my daughter that her choices could have grave consequences," she said, referring to an incident where an allergy episode caused them to spend a harrowing night in the hospital.
For her son's curiosity about swearing, she took a more understanding approach. "I had to reassure him that being curious is a good thing, and he shouldn't let it consume him," she added.
Simonyan's resilience amidst this family tragedy showcases not only her incredible strength but also her unwavering commitment to her family and her profound love for her husband, Tigran Keosayan. Her undying hope and unwavering belief in her family's resilience is truly inspiring.
