The Food Safety Authority (FSAI) has issued a recall notice for a batch of Hogan's Farm Turkey Burgers due to the possible presence of Salmonella. Consumers who have purchased the affected product are urged to take immediate action.

The 400g pack of Hogan's Farm Turkey Burgers, with a use-by date of 26 July and approval number IE 827 EC, is the focus of the recall. Symptoms associated with Salmonella typically develop between 6 and 72 hours after infection, with most cases appearing within 12 to 36 hours. The primary symptom is diarrhea, which can sometimes contain blood. Additional symptoms include fever, headache, and abdominal cramps.

The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Certain groups such as the elderly, infants, and people with weakened immune systems are at a higher risk of severe illness, which in some cases may require hospitalization.

The FSAI advises consumers not to eat the impacted batch of Hogan's Farm Turkey Burgers, even if frozen, and to check their freezers accordingly. Recall notices are displayed at points of sale for the affected batch.

It is important to note that Salmonella can potentially affect people who have frozen the burgers after the use-by date. The FSAI is responsible for issuing the recall notice.

For more information, consumers are encouraged to visit the FSAI's website or contact their local health authority. It is crucial to prioritise food safety and health during this time.
