Following the burglary, the nursing home sets up surveillance cameras.
In the quiet town of Schneverdingen, an unsettling incident occurred on Sunday, October 8th, at the Tannenhof elderly care home. An 81-year-old resident potentially experienced an attempted sexual assault in the early morning twilight.
The suspect, described as a man, approximately 1.65 meters tall, with a slim build, narrow hands, large black eyes, and wearing a distinctive green-blue bodysuit with a white stripe on the arm or chest, known as a Morphsuit, entered the resident's room through an open balcony door.
The employee of the senior home, Diakonische Altenhilfe Schneverdingen, located on Nordstraße, saw the suspect running away on the street but was unable to prevent the incident or apprehend the individual. The suspect spoke perfect German without an accent, leading the police to believe he might have been at a party beforehand.
Despite the ongoing investigation, the name of the suspect remains undisclosed, and no connections to the incident have been established as of yet. The police spokesman, Tarek Gibbah, has stated that there has been no similar incident in the Heidekreis area before.
The police have not confirmed any link to the frequent burglaries in Schneverdingen, and they suspect that the incident at the Tannenhof elderly care home was a spontaneous act by the male perpetrator. The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them at (0 51 91) 9 38 01 04.
The elderly care home is taking steps to enhance security measures. Caregivers will be reminded to close balcony doors after briefly airing the rooms, and the senior home is installing a camera system to monitor the premises more effectively. The senior home's prevention team from the police inspection is also available for security consultations, particularly for the elderly.
The incident will be discussed at the home's board meeting, and the management expressed their deep concern for the safety and well-being of the residents. The woman involved in the incident managed to scare off the intruder, and details about the incident are not being released by the police to protect the victim's privacy.
The police are continuing their investigation to apprehend the suspect and ensure the safety of the residents at the Tannenhof elderly care home. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
