Product Recall Alert: Student Snack Mix Contains Undisclosed Sulfites – Potential Risk for Some

Nuremberg, Germany – Natural Snack & Nuts GmbH is initiating a recall of its Student Snack Mix, available in 150g packs under the "Snack Nuts" brand, due to an incorrect labeling of sulfites. The company's internal quality checks revealed that this allergen was omitted from the product's labeling.

Individuals with a sensitivity to sulfur dioxide or sulfites may experience health issues if they consume this snack mix. The affected product bears a best before date of "01-02-2026," batch number "L:SN:2502," and is packaged in 150g quantities. The EAN number associated with this product is "4270003865562."

According to the manufacturer, the snack mix is primarily distributed in Bavaria. Consumers who are allergic to sulfites are advised to refrain from consuming this product. The company encourages them to return the product to the point of purchase for a full refund. For those without a sulfite allergy, there is no known health risk associated with consuming this product.

There is currently no recall announcement pertaining to sulfites or the "Student Snack Mix" product from Natural Snack & Nuts GmbH in the FDA's official recall archives. However, it's recommended that consumers seeking information about specific products closely monitor official recall announcements or contact the company directly for more details.

In a separate development, New England Village Foods recalled its "19th Hole Snack Mix" due to undeclared almonds and sesame. This recall followed a customer's discovery of almonds in the product without proper labeling, as well as an additional FDA review identifying sesame as an unlisted allergen. The "19th Hole Snack Mix" was distributed to independent grocery markets and convenience stores across New England, New York, and Pennsylvania.

  1. Community Notice: In light of the ongoing product recall, the local health-and-wellness community policy advises all residents with a sensitivity to sulfites to avoid consuming the Student Snack Mix, specifically the batch number "L:SN:2502" with the EAN number "4270003865562".
  2. Further to the recent recall announcements, the employment policy at Natural Snack & Nuts GmbH, in collaboration with the science department, is actively working on improving their labeling processes to prevent similar incidents involving undisclosed allergens in their food-and-drink products, such as the Student Snack Mix, in the future.
