In a significant move, the respected Cosmos magazine has announced that it will be transitioning to a digital platform, with the final print edition set to be published in June 2025. This shift reflects a broader trend in the magazine industry, as publishers adapt to changing reader habits, reduce costs, and expand their reach in the digital age.

The new digital destination aims to bring together audiences for a sustainable future, offering a wide range of content including peer-reviewed journals, e-books, and fact-based science news. Subscribers will continue to enjoy interviews with scientists and the latest science discoveries, as a dedicated news team will be employed to continue publishing stories.

For those who have subscribed to Cosmos, rest assured that you will receive a refund for your remaining subscription term. Subscribers who purchased their subscription through the Royal Institution of Australia before June 2024 can contact [email protected] or call 1300 788000 to organize a refund. Subscribers who purchased their subscription via an agent will receive a refund following the agent's standard processes. Schools and libraries that purchased their subscription via EFT or paid on invoice through their school account will be contacted to organize a refund.

Meanwhile, the Cosmos online news service will continue at the website, providing readers with the latest in science news and discoveries. For media enquiries, contact [email protected]. For general enquiries, contact [email protected] or call 1300 788000.

The decision to stop the production of the print platform mirrors a wider shift of audiences away from print magazines and the rising costs of producing print magazines. The transition to a digital platform is part of Cosmos's commitment to maintaining relevance and profitability in a rapidly evolving media landscape.

Originally published under the title "A new future for our platform," the transition marks an exciting new chapter for Cosmos, as it continues to deliver high-quality science content to its audience in a more accessible and sustainable manner.

The new digital Cosmos platform will feature a variety of content related to health and wellness, medical conditions, and science, including peer-reviewed journals, e-books, and science news. A dedicated news team will ensure that subscribers continue to stay updated with interviews of scientists and the latest science discoveries.
