Forklift Used to Rescue 300kg Man After Eight Months Bedridden in Indonesia
A 300kg Indonesian man was transported to a general hospital using a forklift after being bed-bound for eight months. Mr Muhammad Fajri, who suffers from severe mobility issues, needed urgent medical care due to infections and leg pain. His condition required an unusual rescue effort in Ciledug district.
The Ciledug disaster management team used heavy machinery to move Mr Muhammad from his home. A forklift lifted him onto a pickup truck because the narrow road and his size made a standard ambulance impossible. The operation took two hours, including breaking down his front door to get him out safely.
Mr Muhammad has been unable to move his right leg since an accident. Doctors say his extreme weight—caused by high calorie intake and inactivity—has worsened his health. He now faces infections across his body and severe skin problems.
His mother, Ms Riwati, hopes he recovers quickly so he can return to work. As the family's sole earner after his father's death, his illness has left them struggling. He will soon be transferred to a Jakarta hospital for specialist treatment.
The rescue highlights the challenges of treating extreme obesity in remote areas. Mr Muhammad's case required special equipment and coordination to move him safely. His ongoing care will now depend on medical experts in the capital.
