French priests report high job satisfaction despite lingering challenges
A new nationwide survey conducted by the Observatory of Catholicism reveals that most Catholic priests in France feel positive about their ministry. Titled 'The Priesthood Today', the study gathered responses from 766 priests out of 5,000 contacted, providing a rare and detailed insight into the lives of France's priests. The findings show high levels of satisfaction, though some challenges remain. Conducted from October 16 to 30, the survey included around 40 questions on daily life, expectations, and working conditions. Of the roughly 12,000 priests in France, 766 took part, offering a broad snapshot of their experiences. The survey highlights a largely content clergy, with four in five priests reporting happiness in their roles. Concerns about isolation and support structures persist, especially among younger generations. These insights may shape future discussions on priestly life and ministry in France.
