From Burn Survivor to Healthcare Hero: Mafalda’s Inspiring Journey

Mafalda da Silva Baptista was just seven when a gas explosion in her family’s holiday home left her with severe burns. Doctors gave her little chance of survival after the accident in Portugal. Now 25, she has not only recovered but also become a healthcare professional herself.

The explosion in Crans-Montana changed Mafalda’s life forever. She spent two weeks in a medically induced coma and months in hospital. Her recovery required around 30 surgeries and years of treatment.

Despite the long road, she fought back and trained as a healthcare worker. Today, she uses her experience to support others facing similar struggles. On social media, she shares her story and reaches out to burn victims, offering them hope and encouragement. Her journey from survivor to professional has inspired many. Though details of her training remain private, her determination to help others stands clear.
