Fulda Hosts Interactive Autism Awareness Event on April 2
An awareness event for autism will take place in Fulda on April 2. Lebensbrücke, a support facility, is organising the action stand on University Square from 11 AM to 4 PM. Visitors can learn about autism, explore support tools, and take part in interactive activities like a wheel of fortune. World Autism Awareness Day falls on April 2 each year. The event aims to highlight how people with autism experience the world differently—not as an illness, but as a unique perspective with its own strengths and challenges. Many find everyday situations overwhelming due to intense sensory inputs, communication differences, or difficulty reading social signals.
Lebensbrücke, part of Tanner Diakonie in Gersfeld, currently supports around 80 individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities. The facility designs personalised life plans for each person, covering housing, daily routines, and leisure activities. Their goal is to create environments where individuals can thrive according to their needs. At the Fulda event, attendees will discover tools like augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods. These resources help bridge communication gaps for those who struggle with spoken language. The stand will also feature engaging activities to foster understanding and connection.
The action stand runs until 4 PM and is open to the public. Lebensbrücke hopes the event will encourage greater awareness and support for people with autism. Information on tailored care and available resources will be shared throughout the day.
