Garmin’s AI nutrition tracker debuts at CES 2026 with smartwatch meal logging

Garmin has launched an AI-powered nutrition tracker at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The new feature lets users log meals and monitor nutritional data directly from their smartwatches. It is available to Garmin Connect+ subscribers as part of a paid tier.

The system was showcased at a Las Vegas restaurant, where it identified dishes like grilled salmon and vegetables. Users can also input data via voice commands on compatible Garmin devices.

The AI tool combines image recognition with a large food database to improve accuracy. However, portion sizing remains a challenge, so manual adjustments are possible for better tracking. All logged data appears in the Garmin Connect app, where subscribers can view detailed reports on calorie targets and consumption. The service costs around $6.99 per month, placing it in the mid-range price segment of roughly 10–15 euros, depending on the region and subscription bundle.

The new feature integrates seamlessly with Garmin’s ecosystem, offering subscribers a convenient way to track nutrition. Users can now monitor intake directly from their smartwatches or adjust entries manually when needed. The tool aims to simplify dietary logging through AI and voice commands.
