The project highlights 3,585 medical experts in 101 specialties, though their names remain private due to strict confidentiality measures. Journalists led the entire selection process under the supervision of stern's editorial team.
The research involved a detailed, multi-stage review to pinpoint outstanding physicians. Out of over 390,000 doctors working in German hospitals and private practices, the team compiled a final list of 4,050 recommendations—some specialists appeared in multiple categories.
