Girl, 16, Silenced by Stress Finds Voice Through Gestures
A 16-year-old girl in Novosibirsk has been diagnosed with psychogenic aphonia, a condition causing her to lose the ability to speak due to severe stress. She communicates using gestures, with only her mother understanding her.
The girl's condition was caused by extreme stress, leading to a psychological block that prevents her from speaking. Despite the challenge, she has found a way to communicate through gestures, which her mother understands perfectly.
Specialists, including a psychologist and a speech therapist, are working together to help her overcome this condition. They are part of a team assembled by the Ministry of Health to provide the best possible treatment and support for the girl and her family.
Currently, the girl's father is away on a military mission, leaving her mother as her primary caregiver and interpreter. While the road to recovery may be long, the girl and her family remain hopeful that with the help of specialists and the prescribed treatment, she will regain her ability to speak.
