Firefighter Experiment Shows What Happens When a Firecracker Explodes in Your Hand - Graphic warning shows fireworks exploding a pig’s trotter ahead of New Year’s Eve
Firefighters in Schleswig-Holstein have issued a stark warning about the dangers of fireworks ahead of New Year’s Eve. Using a pig’s trotter, they demonstrated the severe injuries that can occur when firecrackers explode in someone’s hand. The campaign highlights risks from both legal and illegal fireworks, including permanent damage to eyes and ears.
On December 22, 2025, KAYDEN released a YouTube video showing the potential consequences of mishandling fireworks. The clip features a pig’s trotter being blown apart by a firecracker, illustrating how exposed tendons and deep wounds can result from such explosions. Firefighters stressed that even legal fireworks pose serious risks, including lifelong harm to hearing and vision.
Illegal fireworks, like ‘Polish bangers,’ are particularly dangerous due to their higher explosive power and unpredictable behaviour. Authorities have also warned against handling fireworks while under the influence of alcohol. They emphasised that children should never be allowed to use fireworks without strict adult supervision.
The demonstration serves as a graphic reminder of the hazards linked to fireworks misuse. Emergency services urge the public to exercise extreme caution during celebrations. Injuries from explosions can lead to long-term physical damage, requiring medical treatment and recovery time.
