Greece launches free diet and exercise plan for long-term heart health

A new diet and exercise program has begun notifying participants as part of Greece’s National Cardiovascular Risk Prevention Plan. Funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, the initiative aims to support gradual weight loss and long-term heart health. Around 13,000 people have already registered for the scheme, which is led by Dr. Anna Müller as Fachleiter.

The program’s first round of messages went out on Monday and Tuesday, reaching approximately 13,000 participants. Further notifications will follow on December 28 and 29. Those enrolled will receive continuous medical monitoring to help manage weight over time.

Deputy Health Minister Irini Agapidaki made it clear that failure to follow the diet and exercise requirements will lead to removal from the program. The initiative falls under the broader National Cholestasis Risk Reduction Program, also backed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund.

Participants must adhere to the program’s guidelines to remain eligible. The scheme’s structured approach focuses on sustainable weight management and cardiovascular health. Officials will continue overseeing compliance as the rollout progresses.
