In a shocking incident that has left the community in Hammond, Indiana, in disbelief, a local resident named Scott Lindsey was brutally assaulted in Hessville Park on August 15.

Scott Lindsey, a 44-year-old man who has worked at a local grocery store for 14 years, was on his way home from work when he was attacked by several individuals at a water fountain in the park. The assault was witnessed by a passerby who immediately called 911.

During the assault, Lindsey was surrounded, beaten, punched, and kicked by his attackers. The assault was not a random act, as the attackers verbally taunted him and called him names before the assault. Tragically, Lindsey lost the majority of his front teeth as a result of the attack.

Upon arrival, officers found Lindsey bloodied, but the attackers had already fled the scene. No publicly available information has identified who attacked Lindsey in Hessville Park.

Despite the severe injuries sustained during the attack, Lindsey reported that he is feeling fine. However, his family mentioned that he will need costly and extensive dental work to repair the damage from the attack.

Brian Beatty, Lindsey's stepfather, finds it disturbing that one of the attackers recorded the assault and posted it on social media. He believes that the attack was for entertainment, as the attackers taunted Lindsey and considered him vulnerable.

Lindsey initially did not want to tell anyone about the assault, but eventually did. He has decided he will not be cutting through the same park again. The community is rallying around Lindsey, offering support and prayers for his recovery.

As Lindsey recovers from the assault, the Hammond Police Department is urging anyone with information about the attack to come forward. The community hopes that justice will be served and that such a brutal act will not happen again.
