Hesse Unveils Dementia Competence Center to Transform Care and Support

Hesse is launching a new Dementia Competence Center to support those affected by the condition. The initiative, led by the Hessian Ministry for Family, Seniors, Sport, Health, and Care, aims to provide clear guidance and improve access to help. Health Minister Diana Stolz highlighted the daily struggles faced by people with dementia and their families. The centre will act as a central point for all dementia-related questions. It will collect and share easy-to-understand information for counselling services, specialists, and local networks. Families and individuals living with dementia will also find tailored support.

A key focus will be training professionals and volunteers to offer better assistance. The centre plans to strengthen links between existing services across Hesse, ensuring a more coordinated approach. Raising public awareness about dementia remains another top priority.

Minister Stolz stressed that dementia affects everyone in society. She called for greater sensitivity and understanding when addressing the topic. The Dementia Competence Center will provide information, training, and improved connections between support services. Its work aims to ease daily challenges for those living with dementia and their loved ones. The initiative reflects Hesse's commitment to a more informed and supportive approach to the condition.
