Christmas Eve 2024 - 100 Children Born in Hesse - Hesse’s 2024 Births Dip Slightly, With Christmas Day Hitting a Record Low

Hesse experienced a slight dip in births in 2024, with 53,089 live deliveries—a 1.1% decrease from the previous year. The holiday season also saw fewer arrivals than usual, with Christmas Day recording the lowest daily total of the year.

Christmas Eve 2024 saw 100 babies born in Hesse, ten fewer than in 2023. The long-term average for the same day, spanning 2004 to 2024, stood at 108 births. On December 25, the number dropped further to just 84, making it the quietest day for deliveries in the entire year.

The overall decline in births for 2024 reflects a small but steady decrease in Hesse’s delivery numbers. Christmas Day’s low total of 84 births marked the quietest day of the year, while June and July remained peak months for new arrivals. The state’s daily average of 145 births was not met during the holiday period.
