Hiker rescued after leg injury in Agura Gorge's treacherous terrain
A 52-year-old hiker was injured while walking with his wife in Agura Gorge on Monday evening. The incident happened near the waterfalls, prompting a rescue operation by emergency teams.
The couple were found roughly 200 metres from where the Agura and Agurchik rivers meet. Rescuers from Russia's Southern Regional Rescue Center of the Emergency Ministry (EMERCOM) reached them after a search.
The man had hurt his leg, and medics fitted a splint to stabilize his ankle. Rescue workers then carried him to an EMERCOM off-road vehicle. From there, he was driven to the city and handed over to ambulance doctors for further care.
The injured hiker's identity has not been released to the public.
The man received medical attention after being transported from the gorge. His condition will now be assessed by hospital staff. The rescue operation concluded with no further incidents reported.
