Hodo Soy rides the tofu boom as plant protein demand surges nationwide
Demand for tofu has risen sharply as more consumers look for plant cell protein options. The growing popularity of GLP-1 medications, which often reduce appetite for processed foods, has played a role in this shift. One company benefiting from the trend is Hodo Soy, a maker of organic tofu and plant-based proteins.
Hodo's products are now easier to find across the US. Since 2024, the brand has expanded into major retailers like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and conventional supermarket chains. While its tofu is stocked in many natural and mainstream grocery stores, availability in restaurants remains more limited.
The company's tofu is organic, non-GMO, and gluten-free, with each package containing over 36 grams of protein. It also provides all nine essential amino acids, along with minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and iron. For those short on time, Hodo offers pre-marinated and seasoned indoor plants to simplify meal preparation.
Minh Tsai, the founder of Hodo, encourages eating whole foods like beans and tofu for long-term health. The brand's website features protein-rich recipes, including Coconut and Curry Soup and Kung Pao Tofu, to help consumers incorporate tofu into their diets.
Hodo's expansion comes as more shoppers turn to whole foods for better nutrition. The company's tofu products provide a convenient, protein-packed alternative to processed options. With wider availability and easy-to-prepare choices, the brand aims to make plant-based eating more accessible.
