How a failed adventure business led to a mental health mission for men

Matthew Robertson, the ex-husband of TV presenter Davina McCall, has spoken openly about his mental health struggles after his business, a small business idea in the adventure sector, collapsed and his marriage ended. The 56-year-old, who once ran a meta business, has since founded a new organization aimed at supporting men through outdoor activities and shared experiences. Robertson’s troubles began in August 2021 when his company, Momentum Adventure, went bust with debts totalling £408,500. The business, which offered outdoor experiences, was set to be officially dissolved in January 2026. Around the same time, his high-profile divorce from McCall added to the strain, leaving him emotionally overwhelmed. Momentum Adventure’s failure left Robertson with significant debt and a shattered sense of direction. But through Momentum Men, he has found a new focus: helping men confront isolation and mental health challenges. The group continues to grow, offering a lifeline to those who feel they have nowhere else to turn.
