How a luxury clinic founder’s battle with depression changed elite burnout recovery

Jan Gerber once helped others recover from burnout and depression. But in 2022, he faced his own crisis—diagnosed with acute stress-induced depression after years of running Paracelsus Recovery, the luxury clinic he co-founded in Zurich. His experience reshaped how the clinic now supports high-profile clients struggling with similar challenges.

Gerber launched Paracelsus Recovery in 2011 alongside his mother and then-stepfather. The clinic specialises in treating CEOs, entrepreneurs, and wealthy individuals with burnout, offering complete privacy and bespoke care. A week-long stay costs around €111,000, covering a private residence, personal chef, driver, therapist, and therapies like Shiatsu and breathwork—methods Gerber discovered during his own treatment elsewhere.

Paracelsus Recovery remains a discreet refuge for those at the top facing burnout. Its methods, shaped by Gerber’s own recovery, focus on immediate stabilisation and long-term resilience. For clients, the investment means regaining control—not just of their careers, but of their lives.
